My approach to therapy.

As a psychologist, I work together with you to understand what is going on, and how to best facilitate change and improvement in your situation. This combines what we know about mental health diagnoses, the research on various treatment approaches for that situation, and my years of clinical experience. The goal is always to improve quality of life. Additional goals might also include symptom relief, return to work, or improved ability to function in various parts of life. Areas of specialty for me include, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Chronic Pain, Sleep, adaptation to illness, and return to work issues. I work hard to practice within a research supported foundation. This includes CBT, EMDR, and Mindfulness based approaches to therapy. These approaches inform what I do as a therapist. Humanistic approaches like Client Centred Therapy and Logotherapy inform "how" I try to work as a therapist. It's not just what we do in therapy that matters,... it's why we do it. Likewise, in therapy, the relationship always matters and can be just as important as the content of the therapy itself.
